What's your managerial style !!!

What’s your managerial style: like Lord Ram or Lord Krishna?

In Hindu mythology there are two great epics. One is called Ramayan and other is called Mahabharata. The centre story of both these books is around victory of good on evil. In one story Lord Ram leads his army to defeat Ravana in his land while in the second Lord Krishna oversees Pandavas defeat Kauravas in the battle at Kurushektra.

In Ramayan, Lord Ram is the best yodhaa of his side. He leads his army from the front. Strategies and directs different people to do things which will meet the objectives. His people are happy to follow orders and want to get all the appreciation for being the best executors. Lord Ram set direction and also tells people what to do during difficult times.

Ultimately they won the war and final outcome was achieved.

On the other hand Lord Krishna told Arjuna, I won’t fight the battle. I won’t pick up any weapon; I would only be there on your chariot as a charioteer. And he did what he said. He never picked up the weapon and he never fought.

Still, Pandavs won the war and final outcome was achieved.

So, what was different? It was their managerial style and it was also the type of people who were being lead. Lord Ram was leading an army of ‘MONKEYS’ who were not skilled fighters and they were looking for direction. While on other hand, Lord Krishna was leading Arjuna who was one of the best archer of his time. While Lord Ram’s role was to show it and lead from the front, Krishna played the role of a coach whose job was to remove cobwebs from his protégée’s mind. Krishna couldn't teach Arjuna archery but he could definitely help him see things from a very different perspective.

Here are some of the basic differences in two styles: Lord Ram- skilled warrior, lead monkeys, was emotional, gave precise roles and instructions, motivated the army to fight for his cause: Lord krishna- works with best professionals, provides strategic clarity, allows team members to take lead, fights for the cause of the team, did not depict true emotions

Look at your team and reflect what type of leader you are, one who keep answering/solving problems for people or who asks relevant questions from their people so that they can find their own solution. Are you someone who tells/direct all the time or someone who clarifies doubts and allows their people to find their own ways. Are you someone who has monkeys in the team and the way you deal with it Or you have brightest experts in their area getting stuck with issues?

Younger generation doesn't want you to tell or show how things are done, they want to know the meaning of their task and how it makes difference in this world. They are Arjuna’s who don’t necessarily seek more skill/knowledge but they need someone to clarify the cobwebs in their mind, if you still apply Lord Ram’s style on them, you are bound to fail as a manager on the other hand if there are people who aren't skilled enough but rely on your expertise to sail you through Lord Ram’s style is appropriate.

Isn't it good for us to reflect and think what managerial style will bring the best result for you and your team?

Kissing

Getting late for a meeting, need to run', he said, as he slung his coat over the shoulder, and bounded out of the house.

As he drove away, she came running down the stairs two at a time. 'Wait, wait', she said, but he had already left. Her mouth crumpled like used wrapping paper. 'He forgot to give me a goodbye kiss', she whispered in a voice that trembled under the weight of her hurt.

She called him, 'you left without giving me a kiss', she said accusingly. 'I am sorry sweetheart', he said, his voice contrite. 'It is okay', she said, trying to be all grown up as she cut the call.

She gulped down her breakfast morosely, wore her shoes, picked up her school bag and started to walk out of the door, her shoulders slumped. As she climbed down the steps, the car glided to a stop outside the house. He got out of the car. She ran to him, her whole face lit up like a Christmas tree.

'I am sorry I forgot', he said, as he picked her up and hugged her. She said nothing. Her jaw ached from smiling.
Fifteen years later, no one would remember he was late for a meeting, but a little girl would never ever forget that her father drove all the way back home just to kiss her goodbye!

No one is useless.

:

Once there was a man who did not make it to university. So, his mother got him a wife. After the marriage, he worked as a teacher in a primary school. Due to the lack of experience, he was squashed by the students in less than a week.

When he returned home, his wife dried his tears. She comforted him with these words. 'When one is too full, he could either pour it out what's in him or he just could not pour it out at all. You should not be too sad about it. Probably there is a more suitable job waiting for you out there.'

Later on, he found another job and not for so long, he was fired due to his slowness. This time, the wife commented. 'There are always people who are skilful and non skilful. Some have experience from their years of work. As for you, you were in school all this while. So, how could you acquire these needed skills?'

He went for a number of jobs but never stayed long in those jobs. Each time, he would return home with a dejected spirit. His wife would always comfort him and never for once, she was disappointed or resentful.

He was in his thirties when he aquired a flair in languages. He became a counselor in a school for the deaf and mute. Later on, he opened a school for the disabled. A few years later, he set up chain stores in different cities and provinces selling apparatus & equipment for the disabled. He became a multi-millionaire. He was John Doe!

One day he asked his wife. 'When I was looking bleak at my own future, what's the reason that you have so much faith in me?'

His wife gave him a very simple reply. She said, 'When a piece of land is not suitable for planting wheat, we could try planting beans. If the beans are not growing well, we could try planting fruits or gourds. If the vegetation is not economical, we can instead scatter buckwheat seeds. These seeds will one day bloom into flowers. On this land itself, there will be one seed that will germinate and grow.'

After having listened to the wife's explanation, he cried. His wife's faith, love, patience, and persistence in him is liken to the one seed in the land. This is the seed that persists and creates the miracle on this piece of land.

"In this world, there's no one person who is useless. It is just that they need to get positioned themselves firmly in right place"

Having read this story, pls do not ignore it. Share it and you will find yourself very happy and be blessed.

Who would you choose !!!

One day, during an evening class for adults, the psychology Teacher entered the class and told his students, “Let’s all play a game!” “What Game?” asked the students. The Teacher asked one of the students to volunteer. A lady named Aliza came forward.

The Teacher asked her to write about 30 names of most important people in her life on blackboard. Aliza wrote her family members names and relatives names, friends names, her colleagues names and her neighbors names.

The Teacher told her “Please erase 3 names from the list that you consider most unimportant”. Aliza erased names of her colleagues. The Teacher again told her to delete 5 more names. Aliza did as the Teacher instructed and this time she erased her neighbor's names. This went on until there were just four names left on the blackboard.

Aliza now hesitated as the names left were of her mother, father, husband and her son... The entire class became silent and they realized that this wasn’t a game anymore for Aliza. She had to make the difficult choice.

The Teacher told her to delete two more names. Eliza unwillingly deleted her parents names. “Please delete one more” said the professor. Aliza became very nervous and with trembling hands she deleted her son’s name. Aliza cried out painfully...

The Teacher told Aliza to take her seat. And after a while asked her why she didn’t choose her parents or her son instead of her husband as the parents are the ones that nurtured her and the son is the one she gave birth to while she could find another husband. “Why is your husband the most important for you?” He asked.

It was totally quiet in the class, everyone was curious to know her response. Aliza calmly and slowly said, “One day my parents will pass away before me. Surely, my son will also leave me when he grows old for his studies or business or whatever reason. The only one who I truly share my entire life with, is my Husband”. All the students stood up and applauded for her in a great excitement.

We meet many people in our lives. They come and they go. Some stay for a while, some stay forever. Respect every relation, but know the priorities.

(PS: If it would be a man in place of Aliza he would choose his wife and give the same reasons as Aliza did.)

Well, who would you choose if you were in Aliza’s place ?

Pizza

Wife: Don’t put so many clothes for wash today
Husband: Why ?
She said : Maid has said she won’t come for two days
Husband :Why ?
Wife : She said she is going to meet her granddaughter during Ganpati festival
Husband : OK, Will not put too many clothes
Wife : And , Shall I give her Rs. 500 for Ganpati ? Festival bonus ?
Husband : Why ? Diwali is approaching , we will give her at that time..
Wife : Oh no dear . She is poor. Going to meet her daughter and granddaughter , so she will also feel nice. Moreover, everything has become so expensive these days. How will she able to celebrate festival ?
Husband : You ! I don’t know why you become emotional so easily
Wife : Oh dear, don’t worry .I am going to cancel today’s program of ordering Pizza. Why unnecessarily blow away Rs. 500 on eight pieces of stale bread.
Husband : Wow. Great .Snatching Pizza from us and giving to the maid !
Maid returned after three days and got busy in mopping and dusting. Husband asked her
Husband : So, how was the vacation ?
Maid : very nice sahib.. Didi had given Rs 500 .. festival bonus.
Husband : So you went and met your daughter ? and also met your granddaughter ?
Maid: yes sahib. Enjoyed a lot and spent Rs 500 in two days time.
Husband : Really ? Ok so what did you do with Rs. 500?
Maid : Rs. 150 for dress for granddaughter, Rs 40 for a doll, bought sweets worth Rs 50 for daughter, Rs 50 as offering to Deity in temple, Rs 60 towards bus fare….Rs 25 for bangles for daughter, bought a nice belt worth Rs 50 for son-in-law, balance Rs 75 gave to daughter to buy copy and pencil for granddaughter. Maid gave a full account of the expenses incurred
Husband : so much in Rs 500?
With surprise, he started thinking….the eight pieces of Pizza appeared in front of his eyes and each one of them acted as a hammer started pricking his consciousness. For the price of one Pizza , he started comparing the expenses his maid had incurred during her visit to her daughter. The eight pieces of Pizza floated in front of his eyes. First piece .. dress for the child, second piece… towards sweets.. Third piece… towards offering to the deity in the temple. Fourth piece….towards bus fare. Fifth piece.. towards doll. Sixth piece towards bangles, seventh piece ,, towards belt for the son-in-law. Eight piece towards copy and pencil.
So far he had observed pizza only from one angle. He turned it upside down and observe how it looks like from the other side. .. but today his maid showed him the other side of the pizza…. The eight pieces of pizza showed him the real meaning of life..in an instant the meaning of “Spending for life” or “ Life for spending”

What money can't buy !!!

This story is about a beautiful, expensively dressed lady who complained to her psychiatrist that she felt that her whole life was empty, it had no meaning. So, the lady went to visit a counselor to seek out happiness. The counselor called over the old lady who cleaned the office floors. The counselor then said to the rich lady "I'm going to ask Mary here to tell u how she found happiness. All I want u to do is listen to her." So the old lady put down her broom and sat on a chair and told her story: "Well, my husband died of malaria and three months later my only son was killed by a car. I had nobody. I had nothing left. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I never smiled at anyone, I even thought of taking my own life. Then one evening a little kitten followed me home from work. Somehow I felt sorry for that kitten. It was cold outside, so I decided to let the kitten in. I got some milk, and the kitten licked the plate clean. Then it purred and rubbed against my leg and, for the first time in months, I smiled. Then I stopped to think, if helping a little kitten could make me smile, may be doing something for people could make me happy. So, the next day I baked some biscuits and took them to a neighbor who was sick in bed. Every day I tried to do something nice for someone. It made me so happy to see them happy. Today, I don't know of anybody who sleeps and eats better than I do. I've found happiness, by giving it to others." When she heard this, the rich lady cried. She had everything that money could buy, but she had lost the things which money cannot buy.

Happiness is not a destination, it's a journey.
Happiness is not tomorrow, it is now.
Happiness is not dependency, it is a decision.
Happiness is what you are, not what you have..

How password changed my life !!!!

I was having a great morning until I sat down in front of my office computer “your password has expired” a server message flashed on my screen, with instructions for changing it. Coming up with a new code doesn’t seem like a big deal, unless you work at my company, where we have to change it monthly, using at least one uppercase character, one lower case character, one symbol and one number. Oh and the password can’t be fewer than eight characters. And I can’t use any of the same passwords I’ve used in the past three months.

Suddenly I was furious, what didn’t make it any better was that I was deeply depressed after my recent divorce. Disbelief over what she
had done to me was what I thought all day.

That didn’t mean anything to the empty field with the pulsating cursor, waiting for me to type a password that I have to reenter many times – for the next 30 days. I remembered a tip I’d heard from my former boss . He’d said “ I’m going to use a password that is going to change my life” I couldn’t focus on getting things done in my current mood. There was clear indication that I needed to regain control over my life, but I couldn’t heed them. My password became the indicator. My password reminded me that I shouldn’t let myself be a victim of my recent breakup and that I was strong enough to do something about it.

I made my password – Forgive@h3r , I had to type this password several times every day each time my computer would lock. Each time I came back from lunch I wrote forgive her. The simple action changed the way I looked at my ex-wife. That constant reminder of reconciliation led me to accept
the way things happened and helped me deal with my depression. As one month wore on, I felt a slow healing began to take place. By the time the server prompted me to change my password following month, I felt free.

The next time I had to change my password I thought about the next thing that I had to get done. My password became Quit@smoking4ever .
It motivated me to follow my goal and I was able to quit smoking.

One month later, my password becameSave4trip@thiland, and in three months I was able to visit Thailand.

Seeing how reminders helped me materialize my goals kept me motivated and excited. While its sometimes difficult to come up with your next
goal, keeping at it brings great results.

After a few months my password was Save4@ring !!! Life is going to change again !!!
